[attr="class","likedoinfo"]The gameplay in MSG Online is very similar to reality. There are no special skills that can be raised to allow a player to engineer better mobile suits, rather it is all done the original way, where players must either already have knowledge, or gain it in the world. Below is more information about the gameplay in Mobile Suit Gundam Online.
Players all have a unique device on their wrist (it is located on the opposite of their dominant hand). Activating the device with a click creates a floating display, allowing them to access information to logout, manage their character, company, and everything. The item is used for nearly all forms of communication in-game. It has alarm settings for messages and calls outside of the open world of communication. When not active as a display, the device features as a watch. Players can learn information about others after being in proximity and using a feature on the device to search the database of encountered players.
Players, despite minor cosmetic changes, appear in the game as they appear in the real world. They can access places in the game where they can change their appearance. Players have a standard form in the game that changes with what they do in the world, allowing them to get greater strength and endurance so they can endure longer battles.
Customization in the game takes place with Mobile Suits, Ships, and Support Crafts. The limit of customization is simply modifying the colors and decals placed on the machines of battle. No new mobile suits or ships can be constructed other than ones from the series. Equipment from different mobile suits cannot be used with other technology. An example would be a Strike Freedom that uses a GN Drive. This is not possible. However, there are some equipment customization that can occur. Technology from the Post-Calamity timeline can be equipped with Alaya-Vijnana Systems for some of the players that possess the implants. Other equipment, such as weapons, will normally stay the same unless it is possible for the equipment to be exchanged. An example being a ReZEL utilizing Jegan rifles, or the Unicorn mounting equipment from the Kshatriya or immobilized ReZELs. If you have a question about what your mobile suit can use, then ask the Staff.
The world is run on money, the Credits that make the entire world continue spinning. It costs Credits to dock and refuel ships. It costs Credits to build and repair mobile suits. It costs Credits to do pretty much everything. Players earn these Credits by doing missions or engaging in jobs that will earn them money. Salvaging parts can also be a nice profit.
Combat in the game is realistic, and so depending on mobile suits or ships, there is a limited supply of ammunition, that like most other things, needs to be paid for. Combat towards players is significantly more difficult, though just like with any game, some players are better than others. In additional regard to combat, there is no superior technology from the eras. Even a Zaku could destroy a Gundam. Players are all equal on this front, though some mobile suits are harder to defeat naturally compared to early game units (example is a Flag battling against the Zabanya). If there are members abusing this to force outcomes on others, let the Staff know.
Just as with all video games, there is a respawning system. Players will normally have a 1 hour cooldown after dying to respawn. They will respawn onto the last ship they were on, and if it was destroyed, then at the base they were last at. If a pilot survives the destruction of their mobile suit (or even a ship) they can stay in they do not need to respawn, but rather get healed at a medical bay. Having trained doctors on ships are the best way to ensure that the respawn time is cut down to significantly less, sometimes changing the tide of battles.
Territory Wars and Wars have modified rules of Death, where if a player is killed they will not respawn until the War is over. They are still able to survive by escaping mobile suits if the cockpit is not destroyed.
